Sedona with My Sisters 2005
Sedona is about beautiful buttes and mystical places. Before we embarked on our trip, Rich created two books for us with information on all the major sites. Below are pictures of some famous places, Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Courthouse Rock, and a view of West Sedona.
Airport Vortex
The Sedona airport is located on top of a plateau that overlooks the city and has views of most of the rocks. On the road up the hill to the airport is the Airport Vortex, one of five major vortices that spiritualists say can be found in the Sedona area. This is one of the masculine vortices, which means that it is supposed to give you extra energy, but we were just exhausted from the climb up the hill, so maybe three chicks aren't as susceptible to masculine energies.
Church of the Rock
Sedona is a place of serenity and majesty, and one of the most beautiful places is the Church of the Rock, built into the rocks with views of the valley. Just beneath the church is a new over-the-top home that is now under construction.
Red Rock River Crossing
Probably the most photographed place in Sedona is the river crossing. Dena hurt her ankle here, which slowed her down but didn't stop her.
Boynton Canyon
The hike back into Boynton Canyon was one of the longer hikes of our trip to Sedona. The Boynton canyon vortex is said to give off feminine energy, which makes you feel at peace, and I don't know if it was exhaustion or peace we felt, but we definitely enjoyed it.
Uptown Sedona
By the time we got to the shopping/tourist district in Sedona, it was already late, and the Tlaquepaque (ta-la-key-pa-key) stores were mostly closed. While in uptown, we did have a nice lunch, and bought some pretty cool wind spinners.
